CEME, how this team learnt to spot a Phish…

By their own admission, CEME delivers prosperity where it isn’t likely to happen.

From their East London campus, they work with local employers, authorities, and the Local Enterprise Partnership to develop ambitious projects that deliver jobs, skills, and genuine growth in the local community.

CEME offers its clients flexible, fully serviced offices and technical workspaces with networking and collaboration at the very heart of what it does. With that in mind, IT plays a pivotal part in the organisation and for cyber security, CEME turned to us at BIT Security.

The relationship between CEME and BIT Group started with a cyber training course delivered by BIT Training. On the successful completion of that training course, CEME started a conversation with BIT Security about the danger and vulnerability of phishing and cyber security in general.

To tackle this, BIT Security implemented a KnowBe4 security package which not only delivered a higher level of awareness but also had a bespoke email review service that sent suspicious emails to BIT for further investigation. As part of the ongoing package, BIT Security produces a monthly report on all cyber security activity and schedules a follow-up meeting to discuss the findings from it.

As well as delivering heightened awareness for cyber security within CEME, the BIT Security service also helps prevent reputational damage. The sort of damage that can make a major difference to organisations such as CEME.

The relationship between CEME and BIT Security has resulted in a significantly reduced ‘phishing prone score’ (the level of susceptibility from a cyber attack) and a reduced click through rate on non-genuine emails. Both of these make a difference to the way the company operates now and how it prepares for the future.

CEME, Head of IT, Chris George said: “As an organisation we’ve tried the Knowbe4 product before through different delivery partners, but working with BIT Security was significantly better, which is mainly down to the open and approachable way they work. The hands-on approach made the whole thing so much more effective and better still it represented genuine value for money, plus buy-in from the team at this end has been great … the email review button alone has been worth its weight in gold, and the overall support has been invaluable.”
